Real radical initial ideals

Initial ideals are degenerations of polynomial ideals that often retain important information. We will discuss the consequences of an initial ideal being real radical. This gives us sufficient conditions for the stability of certain quadratic modules. There are also strong implications for the geometry of the corresponding real variety or semialgebraic set. Time permitting, we will also discuss connections to real tropical geometry.
