Registration
The Mini-Symposium is a part of the 18th General Meeting of the European Women in Mathematics. Therefore, those who wish to participate in the Mini-Symposium should register directly for the EWM GM. Here is the registration page. Information about the applicable registration fees is available here. The early bird registration deadline is March 31st 2018.
Travel Information
The meeting is being held at the University of Graz, Austria. Please see the website of the EWM GM for more information on travel and accommodation options.
Financial Support
Participants in the EWM GM may apply for financial support directly from the organisers of the EWM GM. Those interested should apply by March 1st 2018 March 5th 2018 (deadline extended). Information on how to do so is available here.
Funding from the Association for Symbolic Logic
Thanks to the support of the ASL, some financial support may also be available for graduate students and contributing speakers who wish to participate in the EWM Mini-Symposium on Mathematical Logic. Those women who wish contribute a talk should follow the instructions in the section below under "Contributed Talks". Those graduate students who wish to be considered for this funding should proceed as follows. (Please note that female graduate students may also apply to contribute a talk; the two possibilities are not mutually exclusive!)
- To apply for financial support as a graduate student, please send a letter of motivation directly to the organisers of the Mini-Symposium on Mathematical Logic at this address. Please include a paragraph describing your current research interests and its connections with the Mini-Symposium, as well as any further motivation for attending the EWM 18th General Meeting. Please also provide an estimate of your travel expenses to Graz.
- Ask their graduate advisers/supervisors to email a statement of support to the same address.
Both emails should be received by applications will be accepted on a rolling basis March 15th 2018 March 23rd 2018 (deadline extended) in order to receive full consideration; however, after this date as long as funding is still available (which will be indicated on this website).
Note that preference will be given to those who supply a poster to the EWM poster session (follow the link for more information); please indicate if you have applied for this opportunity and keep the organisers updated on the status of your application.
Contributed Talks
Contributing speakers for the Mini-Symposium have now been chosen. No more applications will be accepted.
There is the possibility for a few very short (10-12 minute!) contributed talks from female speakers to form a part of the Mini-Symposium. If you are interested in giving such a talk, please apply to the organizers of the Mini-Symposium by sending a proposed title and abstract to this address by March 15th 2018 March 23rd 2018 (deadline extended). Please indicate when you apply if you would like to be considered for funding; if so, please also provide an estimate of your travel expenses to Graz.
Poster Session
As part of the 18th GM, the EWM is organising a poster session focussing (as with the whole meeting) on women and their achievements. The submission deadline for abstracts is June 1st 2018. Further information is available here. If you apply to present a poster and would like it to be included in the thematic grouping related to Mathematical Logic, please contact the Mini-Symposium organisers as well, who will endeavour to coordinate the grouping.
